Innsbruck: Spain beats Slovenia

credit: Schaad
The victory against Slovenia was not enough for Spain to keep their dream of a place in the semi-finals alive. The team of Valero Rivera will challenge Denmark for place 5 now. Spain was leading from the third minute until the end of half-time, taking advantage of a lot of Slovenian technical faults or missed opportunities. In the second half the difference was getting bigger and bigger so that Slovenia was unable to recover the margin.
Noka Serdarusic (Coach SLO): This was the second match of this tournament in which we had no chance to win. We could not prevent the counterattacks and had problems with the Spanish pivots. You cannot win against Spain with that amount of mistakes.
Valero Rivera (Coach ESP): I am very content. We played fast and were very concentrated and we had Slovenia under control. Now we need some luck for the last match between France and Poland.
Luka Zvizej (SLO): We were motivated and wanted to fight in the last match. But we made a lot of mistakes, especially in the first halftime. Therefore it was not possible to win against this opponent.
Julen Aguinagalde (ESP): It was not an easy match at the beginning but then we played superiorly. We did our part to reach the semi-finals.
